PHF boss seeks solution to Karachi’s hockey situation

The president of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar said that some forces were creating unnecessary disturbance in Karachi Hockey Association (KHA).

Khokhar told reporters in Karachi that there is no grouping in the KHA but some people are doing propaganda against it. “We were forced to play our role in solving the crisis in the KHA,” he stated.

Khokhar thinks that all associations have to work together for the betterment of hockey in Pakistan. He said that they are ready to collaborate with people to improve hockey’s status. “We all need to work together to make our national game stable once again,” he said.

Meanwhile, Khokhar credits PHF’s new secretary Asif Bajwa for working hard to finish the crisis in hockey. “Asif’s addition in the federation has put the things back on track,” said Khokhar.

The PHF boss revealed that the government has not released funds for them since October 2017 which is a keen concern for the federation. “We don’t have funds but still we are working to revive hockey in Pakistan,” Khokhar lamented.

On the other hand, the PHF’s secretary Bajwa announced to make Saeed Ghani the president of Sindh Hockey Association (SHA) while Dr. Junaid Ali Shah president of KHA.

Former Olympian Hanif Khan will be the director of National Hockey Championship slated to start from July 23 in Karachi.
