PHF exclude seniors from 26-player pool for FIH hockey pro league

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) on Saturday excluded senior players of the team from the 26-player pool for FIH hockey pro league scheduled in February next year.

The senior players showed frustration over this decision and many of them are thinking to take retirement.

The players said that they are not only responsible for Pakistan’s abysmal performance in the recently concluded world cup. They said that entire hockey team management was responsible who gave resignations to escape from the investigation.

According to the players, a strong can only be established when there is a combination of young and senior players. They said that Belgium, who are the new world champions, also had senior players in their side who played important role in their title triumph.

The upcoming FIH Hockey Pro League next year is the last chance for Pakistan team to qualify for the Olympics 2020 in Tokyo.

It is pertinent to mention here that national team goalkeeper Imran Butt had already announced his retirement.
