PHF secretary optimistic about hockey future

The secretary of the Pakistan Hockey Federation Shahbaz Ahmed has said that it is essential that the game of hockey nurtured as a brand because running to the government every now and then for funds is not the ideal scenario for the game as a whole.

While talking to media in Karachi Shahbaz admitted that raising the stature of hockey to its previous high standards is a tough ask which is why it is important that we work as a team for its betterment and hopefully in a span of 3-4 years we will regain our lost status in hockey.

Promoting hockey at the grass root level is extremely important because that is the ultimate source of good players and so we should focus on reviving this game at the school and college level. He said that as soon as the team starts winning matches regularly we will see that the good days of hockey will return.
