The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has short-listed 38 players including five goal-keepers, on Saturday.
The team’s newly appointed head coach and manager Saeed Khan observed four-day practice sessions and a three-day trial. He named the players with watching their fitness and performance.
The 38 players include Waqar, Muneeb ur Rehman, Waleed Akhtar, Aleem Bilal, Mubashir Ali, Rizwan Ali, Amjad Ali, Abu Bakar Mahmood, Moin Shakeel, Azfar Yaqoob, Faisal Qadir, Junaid Kamal, Atif Mushtaq, Asfandyar, Ali Shan, Atiq Arshad, Saran Bin Qamar, Rana Waheed, Rana Suhail Ruiz, Ghazanfar Ali, Ali Aziz, Suhail Anjum, Samiullah, Sardar Chandio Khan, Arsalan Qadir, Shan Irshad, Hammadudin Anjum, Salman Razzaq, Junaid Manzoor, Adeel Latif, Abdul Nafeh, Rehan Butt, Ajmal Butt, Zain, Taimoor Malik, Awais-ur-Rehman, Akmal Hussain, and Amjad Ali.
The players are required to attend the training sessions for next two weeks at National Hockey Stadium before the PHF announce the final squad for Pro Hockey League.
Team’s coach Khan said that they will work on players’ fitness and techniques to make them competitive enough for the upcoming event.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan will play their first match of Pro Hockey League on February 2 against Argentine in their backyard.
