Players’ auction for Lanka Premier League to take place on October 1


Karachi: The Sri Lanka Cricket have shortlisted 150 players for their upcoming first edition of the Lanka Premier League, scheduled from November 14 to December 6 at their backyard.

According to a press release, players’ auction for the league will take place on October 1. The list of players includes top-notch players from across the world such as Chris Gayle, Colin Munro, Darren Sammy, Vernon Philander, Ravi Bopara and Shakib-Al-Hasan.

24 Pakistani players including Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Hafeez, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Kamran Akmal, Sharjeel Khan, Mohammad Irfan, Yasir Shah, Imam-ul-Haq, Haris Sohail, Mohammad Sami, Umar Gul, Mohammad Abbas, Sohail Tanvir, Junaid Khan, Imad Wasim, Anwar Ali, Mohammad Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Asif Ali, Iftekhar Ahmed, and Ruman Raees are also part of the players’ pool.

As many as 5 teams named Colombo Lions, Dambulla Hawks, Galle Gladiators, Jaffna Cobras, Kandy Tuskers will take part in the event. Galle Gladiators belongs to Pakistan and is bought by the owners of the Pakistan Super League (PSL)’s franchise Quetta Gladiators.

Flamboyant all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi is the icon player of Galle Player and is placed in the $60,000 price category besides Faf Du Plessis and Chris Gayle.

All-rounder Shoaib Malik is placed in the $50,000 price category while Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Hafeez, and Wahab Riaz have a base price of $40,000
