LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s CEO Wasim Khan said players who didn’t get central contracts do not mean that they are not under consideration for the national team’s selection.
Speaking in a video released by the PCB, Khan said the players were selected highly based on their fitness, performance, and formats they play in.
“As usual, we selected players for central contracts based on their fitness, performance, and formats they play in. The players, who got central contracts, showed improvement in fitness, and their performance was highlighted in last few months,” he said.
“Those who haven’t got the central contract, do not mean that they are now out of the radar for national team’s selection. These were the best possible players who are given contracts,” he added.
Talking about the emerging contract category, Khan said this one excites him the most. “We have included Shahnawaz Dahani this time in the Emerging category of the contracts. Everyone saw his performance in PSL 6 and how energetic he is. This is the reason why I like the emerging category of the contracts as we see young enthusiastic cricketers in it,” he concluded.
