The Prime Minister Imran Khan stressed on the need to deploy some strict policies for sports in the country for its betterment.
Imran on Tuesday chaired a meeting on Inter-Provincial Coordination Ministry at Prime Minister’s Office.
Minister IPC Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Secretary IPC Mr. Jamil Ahmed, Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Mr. Ehsan Mani and senior government officials were present during the meeting.
Secretary IPC Mr. Jamil Ahmed briefed Mr Khan about the performance of various departments including Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and other sports departments.
Jamil further asked the PM to pay more attention towards promoting sports among common people to flourish its status.
The budgetary allocations of the Ministry and various development schemes were also discussed during the meeting.
The IPC committee also pulled the attention of Imran towards the projects which are incomplete since 2008.
In reply, Imran assigned a task force to look on the pending schemes in order to ascertain their utility and reasons for their incompletion.
A long discussion held over the performance of the sports organizations and federations and the basic points were outlined to mend the problems as soon as possible.
Imran thinks that his vision to take sports in the country on high could only be possible if there will be proper plans and strategies to overcome different issues.
It was also decided to have big changes in the government organizations dealing with sports because they too have failed to achieve the purpose for which they were created.
Moreover, the Prime Minister also directed to conduct as much youth programs as they can because Imran thinks that it is really important to bring talented youngster under limelight.
On the other hand, Imran was also briefed about the performance of National Paralympic Committee.
