POA’s president supports revival of hockey in Pakistan

The president of Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) Lt General (R) Syed Arif Hasan assures Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) for all-out support to promote hockey in Pakistan.

While talking to the media Hasan said that hockey is Pakistan’s national game and they are ready to extend any kind of support to the PHF.

“POA is always there to promote hockey in Pakistan,” the POA chief stated.

Hasan thinks that PHF is working tirelessly to lift the status of hockey in Pakistan which is a good sign. “They are working with honesty and I hope their efforts will pay off for them,” he said.

He recalled recently concluded National Hockey Championship which was won by National Bank of Pakistan for the second time in a row.

“The National Hockey Championship was a successful move by the PHF in a time when they are suffering through an immense crisis,” Hasan said.

It is pertinent to mention here that the 65th edition of National Hockey Championship faced difficulties in its first phase as players didn’t get proper facilities when they reached Karachi for participation. But later on, PHF officials put efforts to finish the event on high.

The current federation under the leadership of president Khalid Sajjad Khokhar and secretary Asif Bajwa is keen to revive the national game in the country.
