Former cricketers and cricket fans immediately took to Twitter to praise two top performers of Day 5 of the opening Test between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, Abid Ali and Babar Azam.
Abid (109) and Babar (102) scored 162 runs together as a complete day of cricket was witnessed at Pindi Stadium after a frustrating rain spell for last three days.
Abid got applause for his record-making Test debut century while Babar collected praise for gaining rhythm in Test cricket and scoring the third century in red-ball cricket.
Former Test pacer Shoaib Akhtar highly appreciated Abid for becoming the first man on this planet to score debut ODI and Test tons. “It is a proud moment for all of us. Abid has a great temperament and he has proved that. I hope he continues giving his best to the team in the future,” he said in a video on Twitter.

Discarded bowler Hasan Ali also congratulated Abid for a splendid milestone after a waiting long to enter an international circuit.
One of the renowned commentators from Sri Lanka Roshan Abeysinghe, who is commentating this Test series, is highly inspired by the way Abid has shown his class.
Congratulations to Abid Ali the first man to score centuries on debut in both ODI and tests. What an amazing performance, which will be hard to better.

On the other hand, Babar got praise all the way from West Indies’s Ian Bishop who is happy to see him continuing his strong form.
So, so, so good to see Babar Azam following up and building on his century vs Australia in Australia.

Former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg, a big fan of Babar’s cover drives, also jumped into praising the top Pakistani batsman of the current era.

It must be noted here that the opening Test of the two-match series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka ended in a draw after rain ruined the game completely on Day 2, 3, and 4. Both the teams will now travel to Karachi to play the second and last contest of this historic Test series from December 19.
