Preparations are in full swing for first-ever Kabaddi World Cup in Pakistan


All the preparations for the first-ever Kabaddi World Cup in Pakistan are in full swing, ARY Sports reported on Saturday.

The event is starting from February 9 and cities including Lahore, Faisalabad, Nankana Sahib, and Gujrat are hosting it. The event to kick off with an opening ceremony in Lahore.

Teams including defending champions India, Iran, Sierra Leone, England, USA, Pakistan, Canada, Kenya, Australia, and Azerbaijan are taking part in the event. The teams are divided into two groups. All the teams will reach Lahore by February 7.

Chaudhary Shafay, the president of Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF), is confident to host the Kabaddi World Cup in a successful manner. “I am looking forward to this event with a lot of hopes. Preparations have been completed and I am excited to see people supporting in the stadium,” he said.

Rai Taimoor Khan, Provincial Minister of Punjab for Youth Affairs, Sports, Archaeology, and Tourism, asked people to support Kabaddi World Cup. “It is your event, come and support us. Show the world, we are a peaceful nation and we want sports to prevail in our country,” Khan said.

It must be noted here that the last three seasons of the Kabaddi World Cup were won by India in 2004, 2007 and 2016 respectively.
