The president of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi appreciated former Test captain Javed Miandad for going out at Pindi Stadium to strongly support the return of Test cricket in Pakistan after a gap of almost 10 years.
In a meeting with the legendary batsman, Alvi praised Miandad’s gesture to witness the historic Test in the stadium. “It was a great gesture by you that you personally went to the stadium. Your presence would have boosted the confidence of players and obviously the fans,” he told.
Alvi said that the return of international cricket in Pakistan is a good sign for the entire nation as it pushes the soft image of the country in front of the world. “Resumption of International cricket to Pakistan is a positive sign. I would like to thank the Sri Lankan team for touring Pakistan for Test cricket,” he said.
On the other hand, Miandad thanked Alvi for his words and assured him to keep supporting cricket and Pakistan. “Cricket is everything to me and I am ready to serve it in any way. It was a great meeting with Alvi who is my old and a very kind friend,” Miandad maintained.
It must be noted here that the Sri Lanka cricket team is currently in Pakistan for a two-match Test series. Day 2 of the contest was spoiled due to rain after an action-packed Day 1.
