Pakistan’s former captain, Misbah Ul Haq believes that Pakistan Super League has played an important role in helping Pakistan becoming the top-ranked T20I side.
“PSL is serving a lot to Pakistan cricket, the way this league has given exposure to players, I believe it has played an important role in making Pakistan the no.1 ranked T20I team of the world and it has also helped Pakistan in the ODI format,” said Haq.
The 44-year old veteran cricketer said that Pakistan’s cricket fans have a close association with their league and they wait the whole year to see the exciting action.
“People were saying on the airport that after a long wait of a year, our entertainment is now going to start,” he said.
Haq, who represented Islamabad United in the first three seasons of the league where they emerged as the champion twice, is now playing for one-time champions Peshawar Zalmi in the fourth season.
“I think it is a good team, they performed really well in the previous seasons, being one time champions and another time runner-ups,” he said. “If we see it overall, they have a good combination.”
Talking about playing other leagues, Haq said that the motive behind taking retirement from international cricket was to give time to family and kids.
“It is just the PSL, which is our league for which we can spare some time in the year, otherwise, it is not easy to take time for travel and play,” he went on to say.
