The much awaited Pakistan Super League begins with the first match between the Misbah led Islamabad United who will be up against the exciting outfit, captained by Sarfraz Ahmed, Quetta Gladiators.

Although at first it seemed unlikely that the league will materialise in the near future but sheer hard work from the Pakistan Cricket Board and especially Najam Sethi and his team has meant that we now have our very own premier T20 league.

Wasim Akram, who is the team director of the Islamabad based franchise Islamabad United has said that this league will be a wonderful opportunity for youngsters to harness their talent and raise their standards. He added that, just like the Indian Premier League, the PSL will help our player as they will share dressing room with quaility players from all over the world.

“By rubbing shoulders, by competing against and by sharing the dressing rooms with high profile players all the Indian players have benefitted and I envisage the same in the PSL,” added Akram, according to Gulf Times.

At the trophy unveiling ceremony the captain of the Karachi Kings side Shoaib Malik said that PSL is a launching pad for the future generation of players as the emerging players will learn a lot from their stint with the franchises over the next few days.

“The PSL provides a launching pad for the future generation of players as four emerging players in each team will learn a lot which is good for the future of Pakistan cricket,”

Shahid Afridi, who is the captain of the Peshawar Zalmi side, also reiterated the fact that PSL will help the youngsters to showcase their talent at the global stage and this is such a big opportunity team to cash in and succeed.
