SHARJAH: As expected, the contest between Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars was a high scoring and close one. Karachi Kings were given a firm target of 180 runs, where they fell seven runs short. Qalandars seemed a better side in the contest and registered their first victory against the Kings in PSL.

Captain Sangakkara and all-rounder Shoaib Malik took their team near to victory by scoring quick 65 runs off 45 balls and 39 off 30 balls respectively. But, once their partnership got over, none of Kings’ batsmen could play an impactful knock.

Sunil Narine, Sohail Tanvir and Mohammad Irfan struck twice for Qalandars, while Bilawal Bhatti took the key wicket of Shoaib Malik.

Earlier, Karachi Kings won the toss and put Lahore to bat. Despite of losing their skipper Brendon McCullum cheaply, Lahore Qalandars were able to reach 179 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Fakhar Zaman’s quick 56 runs from 36 balls along with Jason Roy, Umar Akmal and Mohammad Rizwan’s cameos helped Lahore Qalandars to post a big total on the board.

Mohammad Amir, Sohail Khan and Usama Mir took two wickets each while Imad Wasim also dismissed one batsman. Whereas, Usman Khan Shenwari remained wicket-less, but his spell was quite impressive.

Fakhar Zaman, who was a Navy Jawan before becoming a cricketer, got Man of the Match award for his brisk inning of 56 runs.
