Karachi: All-rounder Anwar Ali has replaced suspended Umar Akmal in Quetta Gladiators’ squad for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 5, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed.
Ali, who played all last seasons for Gladiators, was dropped during the draft in December. Now, he has been called back after Akmal was banned by PCB under their article 4.7.1 of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code.
Akmal had been approached by PCB’s anti-corruption unit last night in his room. The anti-corruption team took two of Akmal’s mobile phones and informed PCB’s high-ups about the matter.
PCB’s chairman Ehsan Mani and CEO Wasim Khan met with Quetta Gladiators’ owner Nadeem Omar at late night to discuss the following matter.
It must be noted here that Anwar had played 32 matches in the last four seasons and scored 191 runs. He also has 23 wickets under his belt.
