Rain likely to spoil Gladiators must-win clash against Sultans in Lahore

The 25th fixture of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season five between Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans is likely to spoil due to irregular rain in Lahore.

The rain is expected to increase in the latter part of the evening according to the Met Office (Pakistan Meteorological Department).

Gladiators are coming in this match with four consecutive defeats and are on the verge of elimination if they lost today against Sultans at Gaddafi Stadium. They are at the bottom of the table with six points in eight matches.

Sultans, on the other hand, have already qualified for the play-offs after defeating Islamabad United in a nine-over per side game in Rawalpindi.

Gladiators will also eye revenge from Sultans as they got defeated by 30 runs courtesy Rilee Rossouw’s fastest PSL hundred in just 43 balls.

Sultans will look to check their bench strength and give rest to main players but will also eye the top spot in order to play Qualifier one that will allow them two chances to qualify for the finals.

They will rely on captain Shan Masood and James Vince, who scored the fastest fifty of this season against United. Leg-spinner Imran Tahir has also been brilliant as he has claimed ten wickets along with veteran pacer Sohail Tanvir, claiming seven wickets.

Quetta, led by Sarfaraz Ahmed have the most dangerous opening duo of Shane Watson and Jason Roy who has scored 181 and 233 runs respectively in eight games.

Their bowling department has shown no sign of improvement with only one main performer, Mohammad Hasnain, leading wicket-taker of the competition so far with 14 wickets. The match between Gladiators and Sultans will start at 7 pm.
