Pakistan’s former Test cricketer Ramiz Raja highly criticized the national team’s management for selecting inexperienced bowling attack for Test series in Australia.
“I am surprised. I can’t see Pakistan doing anything in Test series against Australia with such an inexperienced bowling attack,” Raja opined while doing analysis on Pakistan’s Test squad for Australia tour on his Youtube channel.
Pakistan’s ex-captain thinks that it will be too early to give chance to young Mohammad Musa and Naseem Shah in the longer format of the game. “I think it will be injustice with Musa and Naseem. They are just 18 and it will be too early for them to be a part of the Test team,” he said.
“And if there is a plan to groom these kids so the team management should have added some seniors too to adjust the combination. Imran Khan Sr is making a comeback after two years and he also didn’t play in Australia. He and Mohammad Abbas are of same potential and style, how can such things favor Pakistan there?” Raja asked.
Talking about Mohammad Husnain, the young bowling asset for Pakistan who often averages 145kph, Raja said that he would have been a better choice for the Test team.
“Currently, Husnain is the only bowler who can bowl with immense speed. And the pace is what works on the pitches in Australia. The board has invested a lot in him in recent times but not including him in the Test squad makes me surprised,” he said.
The cricketer-turned commentator also raised questions on preferring Kashif Bhatti over Mohammad Nawaz who has shown immense improvement and performances.
“I don’t know why there is no name of Nawaz. He is a good left-arm spinner who plays cricket leagues around the world. He opens you several batting options too,” he concluded.
It must be noted here that Pakistan and Australia will play the first Test match from November 21-25 while the second and last contest is scheduled from November 29 to December 3.
