Muzaffarabad: Shahid Afridi-led Rawalakot Hawks defeated Mirpur Royals by 43 runs in the first fixture of the first edition of the Kashmir Premier League (KPL) on Friday.
Hawks posted a big target after Royals’ captain Shoaib Malik opted to bowl first. Ahmed Shahzad smashed 69 off 42 balls followed by Bismillah Khan who scored 59 off 34 balls. Afridi stroked 16 off five balls.

For Royals, Amad Butt bagged three wickets for 20 runs while Salman Irshad took two and Khushdil Shah claimed one.
Mirpur Royals were 43 runs short of the target but Malik hit 74 runs off 50 balls, followed by Amad who could score 22 runs off 15 deliveries. Hawks’ Zaman Khan, Asif Afridi and Afridi got two wickets apiece.
It must be noted that before the start of the match, a glittering opening ceremony took place.
Remember, the competition will conclude on August 17. All matches will be played at Muzaffarabad Cricket Stadium.
