Pakistan’s former fast-bowler Shoaib Akhtar is celebrating his birthday as the prolific bowler turned 44 today.
One of the fastest bowlers of cricket history made his Test debut in 1997 against West Indies at Rawalpindi. Since then, he had played 46 Tests and had taken 178 wickets at an average of 24.97.
Akhtar had played 163 ODIs from 1998 to 2011. During this period, he achieved several milestones which include the fastest delivery when bowled at a speed of 161.3km/h.
He had taken 247 wickets in ODI and 19 wickets in the 20-over format of the game. He last played an ODI against New Zealand in World Cup 2011.
