Raza, Rashid, Khawaja named in Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Honours List 2021


Karachi: Pakistan-origin international sports stars were honored by Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry under the 2nd edition of the Foreign Minister’s Honours List.

As part of his initiative to reach out to Overseas Pakistanis, and in the context of the 14 August celebrations, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi Shah honored 25 Overseas Pakistanis.

The awardees were selected for their professional leadership with a strong record of innovation and outstanding performance in the fields of Community Service, Science and Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Sports and Arts and Culture.

Among cricketers, Zimbabwe’s Adil Rashid and Faraz Akra, Australia’s Usman Khawaja and England’s Adil Rashid were named.

“Incredibly honored and humbled to be on this list of so many talented individuals. Thanks Foreign Ministry for the recognition,” Raza tweeted.

“Feeling Honored to be part of the list,” Faraz tweeted.

“Very humbled to have received this honor amongst some amazing recipients. Extremely grateful to my family and friends for all the support! I am proud of my heritage, grateful for what I have and hopefully can continue helping to grow our beautiful multicultural country,” Khawaja tweeted.

Norwegian footballer Etzaz Muzafar Hussain was also honored.

While interacting with the honourees at a webinar hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that it was inspiring to see how much they had achieved at such a young age. They had made Pakistan proud.

The foreign minister added that over 9 million Pakistanis living abroad were the true ambassadors of Pakistan.

The Foreign Minister’s Honours List was launched in 2020 as part of the Vision Foreign Office aimed at expanding the reach and interaction of the institution with key stakeholders.
