Real Madrid face Rayo Vallecano in another important La Liga clash on Saturday at the Vallecas. The Spanish side will be without their ace striker Cristiano Ronaldo who has been made to sit out this game in order to to fully fit and prepared for their important UCL semifinal clash against EPL side Manchester City.
Zidane realizes the importance of this match and the challenge posed by Rayo who are a potent threat when playing at home.
“It’s a difficult game, on a small pitch. We’re up against a team who know how to play, who like to play, and put you under a lot of pressure at home.”, said Zidane
Zidane said that it was hard to convince Ronaldo to sit out this game but it’s important that Ronaldo gets some due rest and he added that Ronaldo is focused on the game against City. Although Zidane did not name the player who would fill in for Ronaldo but he said that he will bring in a player who has similar attributes to Cristiano.
James Rodriguez has been knocking on the door for quite a while in order to get a permanent spot in the lineup and whenever he gets the opportunity the mid fielder does tend to bring out his A game. Zidane understands the players wants to play more matches but the composition of the squad has made it difficult for him to include him in the final eleven although he appreciated the way James plays on the field and realizes his importance for the side.
Regarding Bale Zidane said that the Welshman has fully recovered and will be available for tomorrow’s match.
In terms of La Liga standing this match is of great importance for Real Madrid as they look to keep their hunt for the title in good shape and ensure that Atletico Madrid and FC Barcelona do not have room to breathe.
