Pakistan’s hard-hitting opener Imran Nazir revealed that he expected to play Pakistan Super League 2018 (PSL), but doctors advised him to take some more rest due to injury concerns.
Nazir, who made his debut at an early age of just 18 years for Pakistan, had the tailor-made batting style for the T20 format, especially the league cricket.
Fans missed the master blaster during the first two editions of the PSL and many believed that the batsman is just overlooked by the franchises.
There was news that Imran Nazir will make a comeback during the third edition of the league and will likely to represent the newest team in the campaign, Multan Sultans.
However, all the expectations ended up in disappointment as the 35-year old flamboyant opener did not feature in the draft.
Imran Nazir talked to ARY News exclusively, where he addressed his fans and told that after suffering an injury for the last four years, he is ready to make his comeback.
“I am hopeful to play once again,” he said.
“You know that I was not fully fit for the last four years, but thanks to the almighty, I am much better now and will start my training from the next week,” he said.
“There are three or four months left in the commencement of PSL, if I can attain enough fitness during the span, then I will surely play,” he added.
Imran Nazir thanked his fans for remembering and praying for him, he believes that his recovery is a result of his admirers’ well wishes.
“I am extremely thankful to my fans, it is because of their prayers that I am able to play once again,” he added.
“I know that my fans want to see me play, but there are certain things that are not in our control. But, I have recovered now, though it will take some time to gain complete fitness,“ he went on to say.
Imran Nazir played his last competitive match on February 13, 2014.
