Rizwan likely to become new Test captain ahead of New Zealand tour

Lahore: Wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan is expected to become the new Test captain after Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s CEO Wasim Khan hinted change in Test leadership.

According to ESPNcricinfo, Azhar’s captaincy, which has a series win against Sri Lanka and two defeats against Australia and England, has been reviewed by the PCB. The skipper is all set to meet chairman Ehsan Mani within the next 10 years after which his future will be decided.

Rizwan has remained a permanent part of the Pakistan team since Sarfaraz was dropped following his poor form last year. Recently, under his captaincy, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won the National T20 Cup in Rawalpindi.

It must be noted here that PCB is considering a couple of changes in the set-up once again. Misbah-ul-Haq has already resigned from the chief selector’s post whereas some other changes are also expected in near future.
