Captain’s knock from young Rohail Nazir has led Pakistan U19 to a four-wicket victory over South Africa U19 in the second ODI of five-match series at Pietermaritzburg Oval in Pietermaritzburg on Tuesday.
The wicket-keeper batsman struck 67 runs off 81 balls to help Pakistan put 2-0 lead on the board. On the other hand, Haris Khan supported the chase while scoring 60 runs.
Sent to bat first, the hosts were completely speechless as they lost wickets in quick successions. With losing an early wicket on just a run, South Africa looked to bounce back a couple of times but managed to score just 215 runs.
A Louw was the highest scorer for South Africa as he scored 91 runs and tried a lot to put his team back on track. His magnificent knock included 13 boundaries and a six. G Coetzee was another prominent contributor for the hosts with just 29 runs.
Naseem Shah and Akhtar Shah shared three wickets apiece for Pakistan while Aamir Ali bagged two wickets conceding 39 runs.
In reply, Pakistan lost their openers Haider Ali (18) and M Basit (4) earlier but later in the inning, Rohail and Haris took the charge and amuse their team’s dressing room.
Rohail struck 10 boundaries and a six during his stay at the crease while Haris smashed the balls nine times to the boundary.
A Cloete and B Parsons took two wickets each for the home side.
Both teams will face each other in third ODI on 27 June at the same venue.
