Pakistan Under-19 cricket team captain Rohail Nazir thinks that in 2019, the junior side played great cricket and the year went well.
While talking about the Under-19 team performance released by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Rohail talks through Pakistan team performance in Sri Lanka, South Africa and also not qualifying in the final four of the ACC U19 Asia Cup.
“The year 2019 went well for the U19 team. Despite winning the series against Sri Lanka, we had some issues in the batting department. In our series against South Africa we rectified those mistakes which helped us to clean sweep South Africa in the 50-over series,” He said.
He termed South African series was important for the side as the World Cup will be played over there.
“The series against South Africa was important for us as the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup is scheduled to take place in South Africa and playing there before the mega event helped the players to understand the conditions there,”
He also added that under the mentorship of new head coach Ijaz Ahmed, he and Haider Ali has tried to learn as much as they can.
“Under head-coach Ijaz Ahmed, the team is in a position to give positive results, as Haider Ali and I had benefited a lot under his guidance while playing in the ACC Emerging Asia Cup,”
Captain concluded that he is very happy with his own performances that were consistent and also praised Haider Ali, Naseem Shah and other players valuable contributions for Pakistan U19 in the year 2019.
