Bengaluru: Indian opening batsman and vice-captain Rohit Sharma has reached another landmark as he is now the third quickest in ODI cricket to reach 9000 runs.
The right-handed batsman achieved this milestone in his 217th ODI innings in the ongoing third ODI against Australia in Bengaluru.
The 32-year-old also scored his 29th ODI century scoring 119 off 127 balls including eight fours and six massive sixes. Skipper Virat Kohli also becomes the first Indian to make 5000 runs as captain.
Only Kohli and Ab de Villiers are the two batsmen to reach 9000 runs faster than Rohit in 194 and 205 innings respectively.
It must be noted that Rohit was the ICC ODI Cricketer of the year 2019 for his remarkable performances.
