Rohit, Rahul provides solid start before India loses back-to-back wickets


NOTTINGHAM: Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul provided a solid opening start to India while resuming Day 2 of the opening Test against England at 21-0. 

Adding 76 runs together to overnight total of team India, Rohit and Rahul put them in a commanding position. But, Ollie Robinson provided a breakthrough to the hosts, removing Rohit in 38th over. The right-handed opener scored 36 off 107 balls with the help of six boundaries.

His wicket was followed by a batting collapse as India lost three back-to-back wickets. Cheteshwar Pujara (4) lost his wicket to Anderson who next bagged Indian skipper Virat Kohli for naught.

Back-to-back wickets from Anderson put pressure on India and it was visible as they lost Ajinkya Rahane on a run-out in 44th over.

India closing score at Tea on Day 2 was 125/4 with Rahul being not-out at 57 off 148 balls with nine boundaries and Rishab Pant at seven.

Anderson bagged two wickets whereas Robinson took a wicket for England so far. The match is currently delayed due to rain.
