Real Madrid’s impressive come from behind victory over arch rivals FC Barcelona in this season’s second El Clasico has helped the Los Blancos bridge the gap between the two top sides in Liga standings but the Catalans still sit pretty at the top of the pile and are most likely to clinch the title.

Ronaldo’s winner meant that he had stretched his lead to 7 goals over his rival Lionel Messi. Messi currently stands on 22 goals in La Liga meanwhile Ronaldo is on 29. The solitary goal from Ronaldo ended Barcelona’s 39 match winning streak and this was also the first league win for the Whites at Camp Nou since April 2012. Back in 2012 it was also Ronaldo who sealed the deal with his goal for Real Madrid.

Ronaldo was going through a mixed bag season up till now and with considerate criticism about just scoring against small team but he choose the biggest event of the year to show the world that he still means business.

The trio of Messi, Suarez and Neymar could not help their team through and this was only the third time in 31 La Liga games this season that none of Messi, Suarez and Neymar scored for FC Barcelona.

Messi was not at his best during that night and he found it hard to make his way through the Real Madrid defense which was clearly evident from only one shot at goals out of his three attempts. Messi was dispossessed by Casemiro who plays a defensive midfielder for Real Madrid.

Barcelona next face Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on 5th April which is their next big challenge while Real Madrid will face Wolfsburg on 6th April.
