Manchester United’s star player and icon Wayne Rooney is considering playing in a much deeper role in next season and his exploits in the role versus Bournemouth, where United won 3-1, were quite satisfactory which is why he might regularly play in the midfield next season. Rooney provided a goal and also assisted in one to win the man of the match award in the last EPL match of the season.
“I think sometimes you have to make choices in your career, and at the minute it is probably better for me to play deeper,” Rooney said on the club’s official website.
“Now obviously it is a bit different with England, still being a striker for England, but certainly after that [Euro 2016], for next season, that [midfield] is probably where I see myself playing.”
Rooney is determined to make amends for a disappointing season by beating Crsytal Palace in the FA Cup on Saturday.
