Trinidad: West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo feels that Andre Russell is the best in the T20 format and has the same effect as that of West Indies greats Brian Lara and Chris Gayle.
According to former captain., the 31-year-old Russell who is known for his destructive hitting in the shortest format and his bowling and fielding abilities makes him T20 cricket’s MVP.
“He’s the best in the world. It’s the same I used to say of Chris Gayle when Gayle was in his prime, we are happy to have him representing us, we didn’t have to come up and bowl against him in an international match,” Bravo said to Trinidad based radio station.
“It’s the same with Russell. He is now our Chris Gayle, is our Lara, in the T20 format. He is our superstar,” he added.
Russell recently showed his brilliance where he led West Indies to series-clinching victory in Pallekele against Sri Lanka. He hit six sixes in a blistering 14-ball innings as West Indies smashed their way to a seven-wicket win.
It must be noted that Bravo made his comeback for the West Indies after 3 years and six months with a specific intention to improve his side’s bowling in the death overs.
