Saeed Ajmal joins race to become Pakistan team’s bowling consultant


Pakistan’s former Test cricketer Saeed Ajmal has applied for the national team’s bowling consultant, ARY News reported.

Known for his doosra, Ajmal is looking forward to serving Pakistan once again, this time as an advisor to young and emerging spinners. He has joined Mushtaq Ahmed and Saqlain Mushtaq in a race to get this position.

“Pakistan gave me an identity. I would love to work for my country once again. I have applied for the vacant space up for grab in the national team,” he said.

The veteran of 35 Tests, 113 ODIs and 64 T20Is, Ajmal is confident to get the job as he fulfills all the requirements. “I think I am qualified for this job as I have a strong experience in the coaching sector,” he said.

It must be noted here that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had advertised for the national team’s bowling consultant.

Candidates having level III cricket coaching accreditation will be preferred. Moreover, they should have worked in a similar role with international or national/local teams for at least five years. Management skills, planing and executing abilities, strong analytical capabilities and computer skills are also required.

However, the job description mentioned in the advertisement highlighted that the spin bowling consultant will not be a regular part of the team’s management. He will be called as per need otherwise will work at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore with national cricketers.
