With an aim to improve hockey’s infrastructure in Karachi, the Minister of Sindh for Local Government Saeed Ghani has been appointed as the new president of Karachi Hockey Association (KHA) on Saturday.
Ghani, who is the member of Sindh’s Provincial Assembly since August 2018, thanked the KHA for giving him this role and assured to work in the right direction for hockey in the city.
“I am looking forward to making the most of this opportunity. As we all know that our national game is not getting as much attention as it needed so our top priority would be to restructure the current system of the game,” he said.
Ghani said that there is a need to highlight the young generation by giving them ample opportunities to showcase their talent. “There are a lot of players who want a perfect platform to push their talent forward,” he said.
“We need to accelerate our efforts to push forward our young lot who is capable of representing Pakistan on high,” Ghani added.
The 47-years-old politician said that the Cheif Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah is keen to provide comforts to the athletes in order to take sports up.
“I had meetings with Mr. CM who wants to flourish sports in the province,” he said.
