Wicket-keeper batsman Saifullah Bangash earned immense praise after scoring match-winning 47 runs for Sindh as they beat Northern by three wickets in the National T20 2nd XI Tournament on Thursday.
Bangash smashed eight boundaries during his stay at the crease which handed a close win to his team.
While batting first, Northern scored 140-6 in 20 overs. Shoaib Ahmed smoked 76 runs off 53 deliveries to finish as the highest run-scorer for Northern. He struck 10 boundaries and a six.
Mohammad Umer and Hassan Khan bagged two wickets each for Sindh.
In reply, Sindh reached the target with four balls to spare. Apart from Bangash, opener Jahid Ali played sensibly and scored 31 off 24 balls with the help of four boundaries.
Southern Punjab beat Baluchistan by seven wickets in another match at National Stadium Karachi. Mukhtar Ahmed (29) and Zeeshan Ashraf (23) guide Southern Punjab to chase 101 runs in 15.5 overs.
After opting to bat first, Baluchistan’s batting got failed completely. Fahad Iqbal was their top scorer with 22 runs as they managed to score just 100 runs.
Zia-ul-Haq did the damage for Baluchistan as he took four scalps of Southern Punjab. Mohammad Imran and Zulfiqar Babar took two wickets each.
