Sami’s five-for lead Karachi to a win over Lahore Blues in National T20 Cup


Right-arm fast bowler Mohammad Sami showed his experience taking five-wicket haul which helped Karachi Regions White to beat Lahore Regions Blues by 38 runs in their match of the National T20 Cup at Multan Stadium on Tuesday.

Sami concede only 14 runs in four overs to finish his spell on an impressive note. With the bat for Karachi, it were Awais Zia and Shoaib Malik who batted brilliantly to help them reach a mammoth total.

Karachi while batting first posted 179-6 in 20 overs. Awais Zia smashed seven boundaries and three sixes all around the park to add valuable 68 runs to his team’s total.

Malik, with the help of two boundaries and as many sixes, made 48 runs to had a worthy contribution in his team’s score. Danish Aziz scored 19 runs.

Mohammad Irfan and Hussain Talat took two wickets each for Lahore.

In reply, Lahore were bowled out on 141 runs with eight balls to spare. Rizwan Hasan scored 45 runs laced with four boundaries and a six. Saad Nasim contributed 23 runs.

Sami was blistering with the bowl and apart from him Rahat Ali also bowled brilliantly taking three wickets.

In another match of the day, Mohammad Hafeez struck a fine inning of 46 runs to lead Multan to a seven wickets victory over Lahore Regions White.

Lahore Whites while batting first managed to score just 109 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Ali Khan with 43 runs was the highest scorer for them. Mohammad Irfan Khan took two wickets for Multan.

In reply, Multan chased the target in 18th over with the likes of Hafeez who took 38 balls to reach the respective score which includes five boundaries and two sixes. Hasan Raza scored 33 runs.

Umaid Asif and Zafar Gohar bagged a wicket each for Lahore Whites.

On Wednesday, FATA Region will play Islamabad Region and Rawalpindi Region lock horns with Peshawar Region.
