The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reacted to criticism aimed towards them for allegedly failing to make arrangements to receive the national women’s squad which returned back home after a disastrous show in the ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup.
The mainstream, as well as social media, erupted with criticism after a video was aired on local TV channels showing cricketer Nashra Sandhu riding on a bike with her father on her way home from the Lahore airport.
However, a PCB official confirmed to ARY that proper conveyance was provided to the whole team, but Sandhu went with her father at her own will.
The board was questioned about their ‘ignorant’ behaviour towards the women cricketers, but it has been cleared now that the authorities were probably not at fault.
Pakistan had a forgettable run in the World Cup as the Sana Mir-led side lost all their seven league games.
According to reports Mir and coach Sabih Azhar’s positions as captain and coach respectively are in danger after the dismal campaign.
