Sangakkara to lead as MCC announces squad for Pakistan tour


Lords: The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has announced the squad that is going to tour Lahore with MCC President and former Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara leading the side.

The squad includes big names of English county cricket. England All-rounder Ravi Bopara, Netherlands spinner Roelof van der Merwe are included in the 18-member squad.

Netherlands Fred Klaassen, Scotland duo Michael Leask and Safyaan Sharif, Leicestershire’s Arron Lilley, Kent’s Imran Qayyum, and Worcestershire’s Ross Whiteley are also included in the squad.

The three players Liam Dawson, Samit Patel and Phil Salt will only play only one match as they will get involved with the franchises of Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Yesterday, PCB announced the squad of Pakistan Shaheen and Northern that will play  MCC in two 50 over games whereas two T20s against Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans.

It must be noted that 24-year-old Saud Shakeel will lead Pakistan Shaheen and U19 captain Rohail Nazir will lead Northern.

Guy Lavender will serve as Tour Manager and will be assisted by John Stephenson. Former England fast bowler Ajmal Shehzad will serve as the head coach.
