Pakistan’s legendary off-spinner, Saqlain Mushtaq has reached England to help them with spin bowling during the second test as per a contract signed earlier.
England will welcome Saqlain as Yasir Shah rattled English batting line, they will be looking towards the former Pakistani offie to guide them about tackling the world no. 1 test bowler.
The originator of off-spinning variation ‘Doosra’, will surely help Moeen Ali, who looked completely toothless against Pakistan batting line up, moreover, England is looking to get Adil Rashid, the leg-spinner in the ranks as well, so presence of Saqlain can really help the hosts.
According to The Telegraph, Moeen Ali said about bowling to Pakistani skipper, Misbah Ul Haq, “I just feel like I can’t bowl at him sometimes.”
However, Australian legend, Shane Warne has backed Moeen Ali saying, “It is unfair for everyone to judge Moeen as a spinner,” he added, “He has played all of his life as batsman bowling part-time off-spin. He is doing a very good job but you can’t rely on him to take five or six wickets on turning pitches against good sides because he does not have that mindset. It is too much to expect him to do a job like Yasir.”
Trevor Bayliss has also talked about going with two spinners, “I’ve always thought of playing two spinners [at home], at some stage.”
He added, “[Pakistan] have three left-arm pace bowlers, who created rough outside the off stump for Moeen,” he further said, “So looking ahead, if we did happen to have two spinners, they could both play an important part for us.”
