Sarfaraz critical of Azhar’s new role on “Waqar’s behest”

KARACHI: Former cricketer Sarfaraz Nawaz has expressed discontent at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for naming Azhar Ali as One Day International captain who is under performing at the moment, reports.

Speaking to ARY News on Monday, Nawaz said PCB should have kept Azhar with Misbah as vice-captain if he was under consideration for future captaincy.

He alleged that Waqar Younis is a leading ‘gambler’ of a certain lobby, who is harming Pakistan cricket.

He hailed the nomination of Sarfraz Ahmed as vice captain and termed him a good prospect for Pakistan cricket.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan team coach Mohsin Khan said Waqar Younis had given nothing to Pakistan cricket during his tenure as coach.
