Karachi: Sarfaraz Ahmed and Shadab Khan, the skipper of Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United is looking to start the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season five on a winning note.
Sarfaraz, skipper defending champions, Quetta Gladiators revealed his opening pair for the first match. ” We want a good start to the event, Shane Watson and Jason Roy will be opening for Gladiators,” Sarfaraz said in a pre-match presser along with Shadab.
Sarfaraz is not looking beyond and his first aim to give performances in PSL and has high hopes from young bowler Naseem Shah.
“The first target is to give performances in the PSL, Naseem is a talented bowler and I have high hopes from him, we are focusing on his fitness too,” he added.
Sarfaraz thanked the people who have been very supportive since the start of the PSL and also said that he has taken tips too from the squash legend Jahangir Khan.
The 21-year-old Shadab said that he is missing former captain of Islamabad United, Mohammad Sami in this PSL
“We are missing Mohammad Sami but our team is balanced, I have played with big names so there is no pressure of the captaincy,” Shadab said.
He revealed that the foreign players know the importance of cricket in Pakistan and are eager to play in front of the Pakistan crowd.
“International players are desperate to play in Pakistan, they know cricket is preferred nationwide,” he added.
It must be noted that the opening ceremony of season five will take place in Karachi before the match tomorrow between the two teams where renowned names will perform.
Earlier today, the PSL trophy unveiling ceremony took place for the first time in Pakistan where squash icon Jahangir Khan brought the trophy and it was revealed by PCB chairman Ehsan Mani.
