Saud Shakeel to lead Pakistan in ACC Emerging Asia Cup


The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named top order batsman Saud Shakeel captain of the national team for 50-over ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup starting from November 12 in Bangladesh.

Wicket-keeper batsman Rohail Nazir will serve as his deputy while other team members include Akif Javed, Amad Butt, Haider Ali, Hasan Mohsin, Imran Rafiq, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Asad, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Mohsin, Omair Bin Yousuf, Saif Badar, Sameen Gul, Umar Khan.

Khushdil Shah and Mohammad Husnain will join the team after national senior men’s team T20I series against Australia.

According to the PCB, the squad has been selected by mutual understanding between men’s senior and junior selection committees. The players were considered following their good performances in the National T20 Cup, Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, National U19 Three-Day Tournament and National U19 One-Day Tournament.

It must be noted here that Pakistan has been placed in Group A alongside Afghanistan, Oman and Sri Lanka. They will first play against Afghanistan on November 14. The tournament’s final is scheduled on November 23.
