Senior women cricketers sit out of a practice match

The senior women cricketers sit out of a practice match during Pakistan’s team training camp ahead of their ICC Women’s Championship fixture against South Africa.

Players including captain Bismah Maroof, all-rounder Sana Mir, Aliya Riaz, and Nida Dar were seen doing physical training instead of taking part in a practice match against U-16 and U-21 boys.

According to the team management, their aim is to make their bench strong hence those girls who didn’t get a chance during the recently concluded 2nd Inter-Departmental T20 Cup took part in a practice match which women’s team lost by a huge margin of 200 runs.

The mixed team of U-16 and U-21 boys put a mammoth total of 395 runs on the scoreboard in 50 overs. The women team fell on just 195 runs with Nahida Khan scoring highest 40 runs.

The team management is trying hard to get rid of weaknesses and prepare the bunch strong for the upcoming series against Protease.

It is pertinent to mention here that the chief selector of women’s cricket team Urooj Mumtaz will announce the 15-member squad on April 13. The players will be selected on the basis of fitness and their recent performance.
