Series whitewash will take Pakistan to fifth in Test Rankings

Karachi: The home side Pakistan will move to the No.5 spot in ICC Test Rankings if they are able to clean sweep South Africa in the upcoming two-match Test series.

Pakistan are currently at seventh with 90 ranking points while South Africa is at fifth with 90 points. 2-0 win will take Pakistan to 89 points and at the fifth spot while Proteas will lose five.

If this happens, it would be the first time since January 2017 when Pakistan will move to No.5 in the rankings.

On the other hand, Pakistan captain Babar Azam have a chance to go past England’s Joe Root, who overtook his fifth spot in batsmen Rankings after a century against Sri Lanka in 1st Test at Galle.

The other Pakistani batters Azhar Ali (19th), Mohammad Rizwan (36th) and Abid Ali (67th) have a chance to improve their rankings.

Among bowlers, Yasir Shah (25th) and Shaheen Shah (33th) can improve if they manage to take some wickets in the first Test at National Stadium.
