Pakistan’s fast bowler Mohammad Asif criticised PCB for showing double standards by ignoring the top performers at the domestic level in picking the squad. He said the selection committee sent a team of T20 players to Ireland and England to play Test matches.
“Several members of the touring side have no experience of Test cricket and yet they have been selected for the all-important tour of UK and Ireland,” said Asif.
The fast bowler also slammed Pakistan’s skipper on his performance, “How can he [Sarfraz] then motivate other players if his own performance is below par,” said Asif,
Asif also added that he had been performing well but despite that, he was not selected.
Asif is yet to be selected for the Pakistan national team even after serving the five-year ban for the spot-fixing scandal.
The 35-year-old bowler represents WAPDA in first-class cricket and was not picked by any franchise in the three seasons of Pakistan Super League.
Pakistan will play against Ireland, which will be their first-ever Test against Pakistan from 11th to 15th May in Dublin. Pakistan will then play two Tests against England at Lord’s from 24th to 28th May.
