Pakistan’s leg-spinning sensation, Shadab Khan is looking leave his mark on the Big Bash League of Australia by becoming the best bowler in the first three games that he will play for the Brisbane Heat.
The 19-year old leggie was asked about what he is aiming for in the tournament and how is feeling to be a part of the glittering BBL.
“Last year I saw the Big Bash on the TV and now I’m playing,” he said.
“I’ll play the first three games and I want to be the best bowler in those games. I’ve seen on TV that Australia doesn’t spin too much so I’ll do my best to bowl variations to contain runs and take wickets,” he added.
Shadab Khan is considered to be a find of Pakistan Super League, he represented Islamabad United in the second edition of the league and was extremely impressive throughout the tournament.
He carried on his instrumental performance in the Greens as well and played a crucial role in making Pakistan Champions Trophy 2017 winner in England.
He got the attention of Brisbane Heat’s captain and management, they did not take long to offer the youngster a two-year contract for the league.
Heat’s captain, Brendon McCullum is excited to have the quality leg-spinner in his bowling arsenal.
“I’m very excited about Shadab (Khan),” said McCullum. “I played with him (in the Caribbean Premier League) and followed his career around the globe,” he added.
The Kiwi legend had all praises for the dynamic all-rounder.
‘‘He’s only a young man but he’s already made a big impact on world cricket. He is a multi-skilled cricketer. He is dynamic in the field and has been brilliant with the bat in hand,” said Brendon McCullum.
“I’m sure the Brisbane public will warm to him,” he added.
Due to his commitments with Pakistan, Shadab will play only three matches for the franchise and will be replaced by his teammate Yasir Shah in the later part of the campaign.
Shadab Khan will make his Big Bash League debut on the coming Wednesday.
