Lahore: PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan has said “Hanif Muhammad was a great cricketer of his time such players are born after centuries, Pakistan feels proud of him and remembering his unprecedented services for Pakistan cricket we would name one of the national stadiums after his name or take some other step to pay him a tribute.”
He expressed his feelings to the media while visiting the residence of late Hanif Muhammad to condole his family. He along with his wife met the family which included Hanif Muhammad’s wife and two sons Shoaib Muhammad and Shahwez Muhammad and expressed his heartfelt condolence on the sad demise of the ‘Little Master’and prayed for his soul to rest in eternal peace.
At this occasion Hanif Muhammad’s elder brother Rais Muhammad, former cricketer Sallahudin Saloo and other people were also present. The chairman of the Board said “Hanif Muhammad’s contribution to Pakistan cricket is not hidden from anyone he was a strong pillar and played a historical innings with his superb batting touching not only the heights of fame but introduced Pakistan’s name to the entire world.”
“His name will always be written in golden words in the world of cricket, I carry great esteem in my heart for Hanif Muhammad as he was a symbol of confidence and determination and the young players must learn a lesson from his life.” said Shaharyar Khan.
He further added that Muhammad brothers have a tremendous contribution to Pakistan cricket. We hope Hanif Muhammad’s wish would come true when his grandson succeeds in getting the honor of playing Test cricket after his son.
PCB chairman also said “We can never forget Hanif Muhammad and if there is a possibility of a Pak-India series to begin we might name it after Hanif Muhammad.”
