Sports Journalists Association of Sindh honoured Pakistan’s former captain Shahid Afridi in an impressive ceremony on Saturday, where they gave him a gold medal.
Addressing the ceremony, Shahid Afridi hailed the role of SJAS in promoting sports in the province, moreover, he assured full support to the association.
Afridi told that he wants to work for the betterment of game of cricket in Sindh, he also revealed that he requested Sindh government for a piece of land where he can establish a well-equipped cricket academy, but the authorities have not responded to his plea yet.
“I requested the Sindh Government for a piece of land only to build a state of the art cricket academy in Karachi however my plea has not been fulfilled as yet despite several assurances”, Shahid Afridi said.
The veteran allrounder wants to play his due role.
“There is a lot of talent in Sindh however it gets wasted due to lack of proper facilities. I am available to play my due part.”, he added.
Afridi also urged Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to use the experience of Younis Khan and Misbah Ul Haq after they retire from international cricket.
