Pakistan’s veteran allrounder, Shahid Afridi has expressed his desire to be a part Australia’s Big Bash League.
Shahid Afridi is currently representing Hampshire in English county in the Natwest T20 Blast and he is likely to play the one day tournament in Hampshire colors as well. He is keen to use his county stint as a platform to make a comeback in the national side.
Shahid Afridi told cricket.com.au in an interview from England, “I’ll be available for the national team whenever it needs me.”
The 36-year old revealed that he is working hard on his fitness and focusing on cricket, he wants to play for at least the next couple of years, “I still feel that I can play for the next couple of years whether it is for Pakistan or PSL (Pakistan Super League), Big Bash or England (domestic) T20s.”
The Boom Boom further told that he has been offered to play in the competitive Big Bash League before, but, he was unavailable, “I was offered to play Big Bash League in Australia almost every season in the last two or three years but I wasn’t able to take the offer due to my international commitments.”
However, Afridi is ready to play in the Australian league this year if a franchise approaches him.
Afridi has already played for Melbourne Renegades in the first edition of the BBL, he was set to step into the field in Sydney Thunders’ colors, however, he stepped back from contract just at the last moment.
At the moment, both these franchises are having a vacant spot for an international star, so they can approach Shahid Afridi.
