KARACHI: Former captain Shahid Afridi has slammed Javed Miandad after the latter said that the all-rounder wanted a farewell match just because of money.
During an event in Karachi Shahid Afridi said that the legendary batsman Javed Miandad is always after money and this is precisely the difference between him and Imran Khan.
“Money has always been an issue with Miandad. That is the difference him and Imran Khan,” said Shahid Afridi.
The flamboyant player further said that he is available for Pakistan Super League and Bangladesh Premier League as he wants to continue playing domestic T20 leagues.
The issue of Shahid Afridi’s farewell match has been making the headlines after the star all-rounder said that he deserved a farewell match before finally bringing the curtain down on his career. However Afridi later said, in ARY News program Sar-e-Aam, that he won’t be bothered if he does not get a farewell match after seeing the love and respect he has received from his fans and well wishers.
Yesterday chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq said, while announcing squad for the Test series against West Indies, that he can not select a player on the basis of giving a farewell match because such a decision can only be taken by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
