KARACHI: National High-Performance Centre (NHPC)’s spin bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed has confidently delivered his coaching experience in West Indies to Pakistani Test specialists.
Speaking to ARY News exclusively, Mushtaq said the entire coaching panel tried to share the experience of playing in the West Indies with Test players in a 10-day long training camp here at National Stadium.
“Our aim was to prepare these players according to West Indian conditions. I, Saqlain, and Yousuf all played there and I also coached the West Indian team. So, it helped us a lot to guide these players,” he shared.
“West Indies is a tough side at their home ground especially their fast bowling. You need to change your game every day according to the situation,” he added.
Mushtaq said they advised fast and spin bowlers to bowl with power in West Indies. “You get moisture on Day 1 in Test and it requires power to bowl, be it spinner or fast bowler. Later on, the wicket starts settling down and you get to change your technique,” he said.
Pakistan and West Indies are scheduled to play two Tests from August 3. 11 Test specialists have already departed for Barbados.
