Former Pakistan’s fast bowler, Shoaib Akhtar stated on Wednesday that the Islamabad United’s duo of Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif should be thankful to PCB for saving them from imprisonment.
While talking to media the fastest bowler to ever play the game of cricket revealed that if PCB had not sent the alleged players back to Pakistan, they could have been jailed for 5 to 10 years in the UAE.
“Both players should be grateful to the PCB, because if they were convicted in Dubai then they would be imprisoned for at least five to ten years,” he said.
Akhtar believes that proper investigation should be done in this matter and need to find out that whether players were innocent and were framed or they really wanted to commit the act.
He further made it clear that both the players should be punished for not reporting to the board that they are being approached for fixing.
“Cricket is a full-time job now, which includes meeting with the media others. It is part of the job. You have to do it according to the laws of the PCB and the ICC,” he said.
